U.S. looks to raise $2 billion in climate change investments

(Reuters) - The Obama administration on Tuesday set a goal of raising $2 billion in philanthropic investments to fight climate change, including technologies to slash carbon emissions.

The UN Climate Change Conference in Peru ( 1- 12 December) kicked off on Monday with inspiring calls to climate action.

In her opening address, the UN’s top climate change official Christiana Figueres called on delegates to take inspiration from Peru’s famous Nazca lines etched into the soil by Peru’s indigenous Nazca people many centuries ago.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon invited leaders to a Climate Summit to raise political momentum for a meaningful universal climate agreement in Paris in 2015. An unprecedented 125 Heads of State and government attended the gathering. They were joined by more than 800 leaders from business, finance and civil society.


Sweden extends financial support for CCCA second phase

PHNOM PENH – Sweden granted 28,000,000 Swedish Krona (approx. US$3.8 million) on Friday (14 November 2014) to support an initiative implemented by the United Nations Development Programme to help Cambodia improve its capacity to respond to climate change impacts on its development.
