Senior Officials Discussing Implications of Climate Change for Economic Policy and Public Finance

Phnom Penh, a ​seminar on implications of climate change for economic policy and public finance was organized by the Ministry of Environment on 03 September 2014 at Cambodiana Hotel, with 21 participants from senior officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MoEF), the Supreme National Economic Council (SNEC) and the Ministry of Environment (MoE).

The Royal Government of Cambodia officially launched the first-ever, Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan 2014-2023 in November 2013.The CCCSP captures the main strategic objectives and directions for a climate-smart development of Cambodia in the next 10 years. It builds synergies with existing government policies to ensure a strategic cohesion to address a wide range of climate change issues linked to adaptation, GHG mitigation, and low-carbon development.

The CCCSP covers 8 strategic objectives, as follows:

Phnom Penh - On 20th December 2013, a workshop to disseminate key outcomes of the 19th Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC CoP 19) was organized by the Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with the Cambodian Climate Change Alliance (CCCA), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The workshop was attended by over 100 key stakeholders from government institutions, development partners, civil society and media.

Warsaw, 15 November 2013 - Mr. SUM Thy, Director of Climate Change Department of Ministry of Environment presented lessons learned from Country-based practical experience on Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in Cambodia in the site-event organized by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) and Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC) on 15 November 2013 during his participation in Warsaw UN Climate Change Negotiations known as the 19th Conference of the Parties (C0P 19).
