Lexicon of Climate Change in Khmer Officially Launched

Lexicon LaunchThe General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development has the honor to inform the public and the media, both national and international, that the Ministry of Environment, the National Council for Sustainable Development and the National Council of Khmer Language have launched the “Lexicon of Climate Change in Khmer”, in both printed and electronic versions, this afternoon 25 April 2017 at the Ministry of Environment. This is the first time that the government has published a Lexicon for official use of practitioners working in the field of climate change and for the public in general. The Lexicon is meant to support the use of climate change terminology, ensuring its accuracy, consistency and uniformity.

11th CCCA’s Programme Support Board Meeting

11th PSB meeting 28 Feb 201728th February 2017, the Program Support Board (PSB) of the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) conducted its 11th meeting under the chairmanship of H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment and Chairperson of the CCCA’s PSB at Ministry of Environment (MoE) building. The meeting was also attended by PSB members from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology; Ministry of Economy and Finance; and representatives from the development partners including the European Union, Sweden and UNDP, as well as representatives of selected stakeholders to review the​ entire implementation period of 2016, and​​ the activity and budget plan for 2017-2018.


Consultation Workshop on Financing Strategy for the National Adaptation Plan

NAP workshop 27 Feb 2017Phnom Penh, 23rd February 2017– The stakeholder consultation workshop on “Draft Financing Strategy for the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) of Cambodia” was organized by​Department of Climate Change (DCC), General Secretariat​​ of the NCSD​ and Ministry of Environment in cooperation with GIZ, and financed by the United States Agency for International Development​ (USAID) with participation of 44 representatives from 23 line ministries, agencies and development partners under chairmanship of H.E. Chuop Paris, Deputy Secretary General of NCSD and Mr. Thomas Waldraff, Country Director of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Cambodia at Himawari Hotel. The event aims to present financial options, identify available financial resources from national and international levels in the context of climate finance readiness and particularly gather comments and feedback on the draft financing strategy, and develop an implementation plan for the identified priority actions for the NAP.


First Meeting of Climate Change Technical Working Group for Strengthening Climate Change Response

TWG 1st meeting 20Feb2017The first meeting of Climate Change Technical Working Group (CCTWG) was held this morning, 20th February 2017 at Cambodianna Hotel, under chairmanship of H.E. Tin Ponlok, Secretary General, National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD)​ with participation of 19 line ministries agencies to discuss CCTWG’s mandate and priority progamme, supporting to the NCSD for strengthening Cambodia’s capacity to respond to climate change. CCTWG is an integral part of the NCSD structure coordinated by Department of Climate Change.
